Find the rightHunters lawyer,with care.

Hunters is a London law firm, founded in 1715. We designed and built its new website in WordPress: one search for expertise, people and news, a profile for every lawyer, and a site the firm’s own team can run.

The live Hunters homepage: the headline ‘The best legal advice.’ above a search box, beside the strapline ‘With confidence. With consideration. With care.’ and a photo of waves on a shore.

Before

Good advice. A website that hid it.

Nine practice areas. Dozens of lawyers. Clients who often get in touch on a hard day. The old site opened with a photo slider and left people to dig for the rest.

  1. Search sat at the bottom.

To find a lawyer or an answer, visitors scrolled past a slider, tiles, a quote and the news. Many just picked up the phone.

  2. Finding a lawyer meant guessing.

People pages were thin. There was no way to search by name, role or expertise, so clients couldn’t tell who to ask for.

  3. A new brand, an old site.

In 2024 Hunters had a new brand and merged with Peachey & Co. The old site matched neither.

How it’s structured

How we did it, layer by layer.

Like a well-kept legal file, the site is built in layers, each one in its proper place. Watch it come apart and see what each layer does. Skip ahead whenever you like, or drag the drawing to turn it.

Content, kept in WordPress.

This is where Hunters’ team works. Pages, people, practice areas and articles all live here. Edit, press Publish, done.

  • People, expertise, insights and careers each have their own place.
  • Editors use normal WordPress screens. No code needed.
  • Forms run on our own plugin, so there are fewer add-ons to keep up to date.

Structure: fields for people and services.

Each lawyer and each practice area is filled in as a set of fields, not one big text box. A bit like the index at the front of a file.

  • A person has a name, a role, a team, contact details and a photo.
  • A practice area has its services, key contacts and related articles.
  • Link a lawyer to a team once, and they show up on that team’s pages.

The theme, built from the design.

We designed every page, then built a custom WordPress theme that draws them, part by part.

  • The header, search, people cards and article cards are each one reusable part.
  • One template serves all nine practice areas. Another serves every profile.
  • We checked each template against the design at every screen size.

Delivery: quick, and open to everyone.

Before a page reaches you, it is tuned for your screen and for the way you browse.

  • Each photo is saved as WebP in several widths. Phones get small files.
  • Photos further down the page load only when you scroll to them.
  • Pages are cached, so they are ready before anyone asks for them.
  • Real headings, alt text and clear links, listed in the site’s accessibility statement.

The finished page.

All four layers, pressed flat into one page. This is the live Hunters homepage, captured in October 2026.

  • Search comes first: expertise, people and news from one box.
  • Every page on the site is built the same way, from the same parts.

Highlights

Some of our favourite bits.

Three parts of the Hunters site we especially enjoyed building.

  • A lawyer’s profile on hunterslaw.com: name, role as Partner, a short biography, a photo and a card with phone and email.

    Lawyer profile

A page for every lawyer, with role, contact details and photo, filled in from one form.

  • The Hunters private client page: an introduction, a photo and a list of private client services.

    Practice area

One template for all nine areas, from private client to rural land, each with its own services list.

  • The Hunters insights page: a search box and article cards tagged Blog, Press and News.

    Insights

Blog posts, news and press in one searchable place, each tagged by type and author.

FAQ

Questions about this build.

Thinking about something similar? These are the questions we hear most.

A bought theme comes with its own layouts and lots of code you don’t need. A custom theme draws only your design, so it stays true to it, loads quickly and is easier to look after.

Yes. People, practice areas and insights each have their own simple form in WordPress. Adding a new partner or an article doesn’t touch the design.

Yes. Book a call and tell us about your firm and your clients. If you already have a designer, we’ll work with them. We’ll send a short plan with a fixed price. See website development for how we work.
