A kitchen sits on the plinth as a cutaway. Tall units, an oven tower and a hob run under wall cupboards line the left wall. An island with the sink and stools stands in the middle, and the dining table sits by the glazing that runs across the back wall to the garden. Every finish in the specification is live. Change one and it spreads across the kitchen. You can also move the units and the sun.
Drag a finish from the tray onto a surface. Timber suits cabinet fronts, the island, worktops, the floor and the table. Stone suits worktops, the splashback, the island, the floor and walls. Tiles go on the splashback, the floor and walls. Paint goes on walls, cabinets, the island and the table. Metal sets the handles, taps, rails, hood and pendants. Textiles cover the stools and chair seats. Hold a finish over a surface to preview it, then release to apply it. You can also click a surface first and then choose a finish.
Open the Units tab and drag a piece into the kitchen, or pick up a piece that's already there. Units snap to a 10 cm grid, to the walls and to the units beside them, so runs line up. They can't overlap each other. Wall cupboards, shelves and the hood hang on the walls and keep clear of the glazing and the tall units. Scroll while dragging to turn a piece. Click a placed piece to rotate or remove it.
Use the daylight slider or the four previews to change the time. At noon the sun is high behind the kitchen and falls through the glazing. Late in the day it comes in low from the open side. After dark the pendants and the under-cupboard lights come on. The four previews show your kitchen at four times of day.
The bar under the specification shows how the kitchen reads. Pale finishes and daylight make it airy. Warm timbers, tactile surfaces and golden light make it warm. Dark, glossy finishes and lamplight make it deep. It's a guide, not a rule, and most kitchens are a blend.
